About Wynand de Kock

Dr Wynand de Kock founded Open Seminary in 2001 in South Africa. He currently directs Open Seminary in South Africa and Australia and is the Principal of Tabor Victoria. He is married to Marianne and has two daughters, Carmen and Zoe. He has served for eight year as the Dean at Cornerstone Christian College and Pastor of Bethany Fellowship in Claremont. Before leaving for Melbourne Australia to take up the position as Vice Principal at Tabor College Victoria, he served on the pastoral staff at Friends First Church in Cape Town. During this time he pioneered Open Seminary as an alternative method of training leaders in the local church. His ministry involvement also includes being associate minister of counseling, associate minister of children and youth, senior pastor and Director of Beth-Uriel Home for Youth in Cape Town, South Africa. He is a graduate of the Rand Afrikaans University, University of Pretoria, and the Church of God Theological Seminary and earned the Doctor of Theology degree from the University of South Africa in 1990. His academic experience includes teaching at Berea Theological College, Chaldo Bible Institute, University of the Western Cape, Church of God Theological Seminary (adjunct professor), University of Pretoria, University of Stellenbosch, Cornerstone Christian College and Tabor Christian College. He is a regular participant at national and international theological conferences. In recent times he has discovered his love for painting as he and Marianne explore the place of art in the Christian life.
